ASICS connects with Japanese retailer’s Mita Sneakers and baloriginals for their latest collaboration, applying a functional rework to the classic GEL-LYTE III OG. Taking on a black and gunmetal grey colour scheme, this iteration of the ‘90s runner features a technical upper consisting of a fine, engineered mesh base, quilted panelling around the collar, and water repellent Durabuck overlays throughout. Weatherized details continue onto the GEL-LYTE III’s iconic split tongue, which has been closed with a watertight zipper, while a GORE-TEX lining helps to keep the entire silhouette waterproof. BAL’s branding makes its way onto the aforementioned zipper, while 3M reflective GORE-TEX and ASICS logo’s are placed at the ankle & heel respectively. The 3-way collaboration is then finished with a bright pop of red at sneaker’s quick lace system, which includes a toggle for quick adjustments.
