The result of relentless stress testing in the lab, countless hours of research, and feedback from thousands of runners, Adidas returns with the new Ultraboost 2020. Partnering with the International Space Station’s (ISS) US National Laboratory for the silhouettes inaugural release, Adidas draws parallels to the construction of a space shuttle, where each element of the runner has been maximized for a specific, performance-driven function. This functionality is seen in the Ultraboost 2020’s advanced Primeknit upper, which features Tailored Fiber Placement (TFP) technology that lays down the knit fibers to the millimetre for an optimal fit, and a 3D heel frame, which cradles and locks the heal in place, creating a perfect mix of adaptability and support. The silhouettes is then finished off with the ISS’s National Lab space patch on the tongue, a textured rubber cage at the midfoot, as well as a Boost midsole, this time painted in an iridescent purple/blue, a likely nod to the final frontier that contrasts perfectly with both black and grey knit uppers.
