Celebrating 40 years of the iconic Air Force 1 with a throwback to its first colour story, two new colourways from this year’s “Colour of the Month” series arrive this week. Following its initial release in 1982, the AF-1 fell into uncertainty during the mid-1980s regarding its future reissue. That was until sports shops in Baltimore, who couldn’t keep the sneaker in stock, began to ask Nike for custom colourways, which became known at the time as the Colour of the Month series. From there, the rest is history, with the AF-1 securing its spot as one of the most influential sneakers ever.
Dropping in both “Royal Blue” & “University Red”, this month’s colourways from the new “Colour of the Month” series feature a pristine leather upper in white, with their titular shade taking over the midfoot & vamp Swoosh’s. Accents of either ‘royal blue’ or ‘university red’ continue onto the heel’s embroidered “Nike Air” branding, as well as at the tongue’s Anniversary Edition woven labels and insoles. Each pair is then finished with a gum-toned rubber outsole, OG packaging, and a (shoe-cleaning) toothbrush to keep your sneakers crisp.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low Retro “Colour Of The Month” releases in-store tomorrow (Aug 11) at 12 PM and the remaining sizes will be available online at 5 PM.
University Red / Men size’s 5.5 - 12 (no 11.5); $190 +tax.
