Returning decades after the silhouettes debut during the 1991 NBA season, which saw Michael Jordan pick up his first of six titles, the AJ6 arrives in the signature colour of his student-athlete days for this weekend’s release of the Air Jordan 6 Retro “University Blue”. University of North Carolina’s signature shade of light blue is applied to the upper’s nubuck base, accented by soft white leather overlays and dark blue neoprene at the tongue. Additional hits of dark blue are found at the tongue’s embroidered “Jumpman” branding & lace toggle, rear heel tab, as well as at the midsoles colourblocking. This release is then finished with a “Jordan Team” patch at the heel, a nod to the jock tags stitched at the bottom of UNC’s jerseys, as well as icy, semi-translucent rubber at the tongue and outsole.
