From Detroit to South Africa to Manila, Jordan Brand turns to retail partners from around the world to celebrate this year’s return of the AJ2 with the “Team Only” collection. For their first partnership, Detroit-based sneaker retailer takes the Air Jordan 2 Retro Low SP and dresses the upper in richly textured suede and nubuck leather, with lighter tones of ‘rocky tan' at the forefoot and darker tones of ‘british tan’ towards the heel. Crisp leather detailing trims the collar lining, while a luxe reptilian textured leather panel is found on the sneaker’s medial side and rubberized “Jordan Wings” branding is placed at the tongue. Additional details come in the form of plastic tortoiseshell accents at the eyelets and rear TPU heel piece, alongside ‘gym red’ & ‘team royal’ piping at the midfoot, which serve as a subtle nod to the Detroit Pistons. The silhouette is then finished with an off-white midsole, a gradient brown-to-icy blue outsole, as well as a map of Detroit’s metro area printed across each insole.
