From Detroit to South Africa to Manila, Jordan Brand turns to retail partners from around the world to celebrate this year’s return of the AJ2 with the “Team Only” collection. For their second partnership, South Africa-based sneaker retailer Shelflife takes the Air Jordan 2 Retro Low SP and dresses the upper in a blank canvas, inspired by the retailer’s graffiti & street art origins. A mix of hairy suede and nubuck leather take over the upper in ‘light bone’ and white, while lizard-textured overlays are placed along the midfoot & collar. Translucent TPU details are placed at the eyelets and heel counter, while accents in ‘light bone' are found at the rear heel tab and midfoot piping. The largely tonal colour-scheme is then finished with pops of ‘bright mandarin’ at the tongue’s rubberized “Jordan Wings” logo, as well as at the translucent milky outsole, while insoles are adorned with Shelflife’s logo and a collage of signatures from their local community.
